Some men see women as pieces of meat – they do not see someone’s mother, daughter, wife or friend! They (some men), much like a hunter going after a deer, do not see how beautiful the deer (or the woman) is, but rather how tasty the meat will be. Can you reason with such a man? No… There will not be anything you (as a woman) can do about this predator’s cravings. Full Story »

Omaha, Nebraska used to be known for their high-quality steaks but now the mall shootings will also come to mind. :( I reviewed a CNN article that focused on ways to protect yourself in a similar situation. Sadly, there have been many of these public shooting situations and each time people have asked, “What could have prevented this attack?” Full Story »

I just reviewed a website by Erik Kondo called “Not-Me!” Eric is a paraplegic that has a message for people that do not want to be victims… he calls it “Not-Me!” His message takes into account the training-level, the mind-set, and four levels of tactics and techniques. Please take a moment to see what this is about. I think you can get a lot out of this website because this, like Joanne Factor’s website - Strategic Living, Erik’s methods take the whole situation into account and he tells students how to approach each phase. When I was a boy I heard the story about Okinawa being taken over by the Japanese and all weapons being outlawed! The Okinawans started co-opting farming tools as weapons. The dreaded nuchucku (chucks) are actually rice beaters. I was exposed to all of the traditional martial arts weapons but I noticed after “Enter the Dragon” was released – many martial arts weapons were banned. Lots of kids bought chucks and were hurting themselves and others due to their lack of skill and prudence. Full Story »

I remember Steve Anderson when I was fighting white belt at open karate tournaments! He (Steve) was a brown belt that was dominating the division! Steve seemed to be at every tournament I went to (I went to about four a year) and almost always won first place. He went to every nearby tournament he could and I would guess the number to be 30 or more a year! Full Story »

I just reviewed a youtube video of Dr. Ruthless® “Self Defense with Palm Strikes for Women.” Talking about a great video demonstrating how small women can inflict pain against an attacker… this is great! Her (Melissa Soalt’s) webpage is here. I encourage everyone to take a look at the video and webpage. Full Story »

Most of you that have been exposed to movies and TV and have heard the karate kiai! The sound of the impending karate chop was supposed to frighten the opponent as well as release pent up energy. I remember reading books in my youth that mentioned particularly good practitioners of the kiai were able to kill small animals with a single yell! I use to practice the kiai at the same time I was toughening up my fingers to plunge into a chest and remove the still-beating-heart. :) Full Story »

I found this story about a hobo (I know – not politically correct) grabbing an eight-year-old girl by the hair. Well this girl was not having any of it and tried to get away but then executed apparently a perfect scoop kick! :) Full Story »
